Bill Brandt's photographs focus a lot on formalism and the body in the ways it is able to create a form similar to its surroundings. “His pictures read into things, try to get at the hidden presence which dwells in the inanimate object." I like the fact that the limbs are presented in a form with heavy contrast of shadow. I could take some influence from this and try to include shadows to create a sense of form within the images and the skin.
